Youth Soccer Camps in San Diego: Summer 2026 Guide
Why This Guide Exists
Every spring, San Diego parents start the same search: "youth soccer camps near me." The results are a mess. Club websites bury their camp pages. Dates and pricing change without notice. Some camps are development-focused, others are glorified babysitting with a soccer ball.
This guide compiles what we know about summer 2026 soccer camps across San Diego — pro club camps, competitive club camps, university camps, free options, and everything in between. We've included dates, costs, and age ranges where available. Details may shift as summer approaches, so always confirm with the provider before registering.
Professional Club Camps
San Diego Wave FC Camps
The Wave offers youth camps at multiple locations across the county, coached by USSF-certified professional youth coaches from the Wave FC staff.
- Ages: 5-16
- Format: Half-day camps, 9 AM - 12 PM
- Cost: $325 per player
- Locations: Stagecoach Park (Carlsbad), 4S Ranch Sports Park, Black Mountain Ranch Park
- Perks: Every participant receives a complimentary ticket to a Wave FC match
- Registration: sandiegowavefc.com/camps
The Wave camps benefit from access to professional-level coaching staff. For younger players especially, the pro club atmosphere can be a fun experience even if the training content is similar to other half-day camps.
San Diego FC (MLS)
San Diego FC launched its MLS NEXT academy in the 2025-26 season with a U-13 team — the first fully funded youth development program of its kind in the region. The academy is expanding to include girls in fall 2026.
As of this writing, San Diego FC has not announced public summer camp programming for 2026. The club's youth focus has been on its academy pathway rather than open-enrollment camps. Check sandiegofc.com/academy for updates — they may announce summer programming as the season approaches.
Competitive Club Camps
San Diego Surf
Surf is the largest competitive club in the region and runs extensive summer camp programming through a partnership with Nike Soccer Camps.
Surf Soccer Camps (Club-Run)
- Ages: U5-U14
- Early bird discount: Use code EARLYBIRD before May 1, 2026
- Open to: Both Surf and non-Surf players
- Registration: surfsoccer.com/surf-soccer-camps-clinics-2026

Albion SC
Albion runs Juniors Camps in San Diego for younger players looking for their first organized camp experience.
Check their site for specific 2026 summer dates and pricing, which are typically posted in late spring.
Rebels San Diego
Rebels offers summer camp programs focused on skill development, creativity, and confidence.
- Ages: 4-12
- Location: Heritage Park
- Dates: Throughout June
- Registration: rebelssandiego.com/camps
Rebels positions their camps as development-focused with an emphasis on technical skills and on-the-ball creativity, which aligns well with age-appropriate training for younger players.
University Camps
University of San Diego (USD) Soccer Camps
USD's coaching staff runs Nike-branded soccer camps on campus each summer.
- Format: Day camp
- Focus: Player development in a college environment
- Registration: usdsoccercamps.com
University camps offer a unique draw: training on a college campus with college coaching staff. For older players (U13+) considering playing at the collegiate level, this exposure can be valuable.
San Diego State (SDSU) Aztec Camps
SDSU offers youth soccer day camps through their athletics department.
- Ages: Boys and girls, 6-13
- Dates: June 8-11 and July 20-23, 2026
- Hours: 9 AM - 3 PM daily
- Registration: goaztecs.com/camps
SDSU also offers a Spring ID Camp geared toward high school players interested in college recruitment.
International Brand Camps
Several international clubs run branded camps in San Diego:
PSG Academy Camp
- Ages: U7-U16 (boys and girls)
- Dates: July 6-10, 2026
- Hours: 8 AM - 2 PM
- Location: East Lake Soccer Facility, Chula Vista
- Cost: $525
- Registration: psgacademyusacamp.com
Arsenal Soccer Camp
- Ages: Youth
- Dates: July 13-17, 2026
- Hours: 8 AM - 2 PM
- Location: East Lake Soccer Facility, Chula Vista
- Registration: arsenalsoccercampsus.com
Atletico de Madrid Camp
- Location: San Diego area
- Registration: campusatleticodemadrid.com
International brand camps tend to be pricier ($400-$600+ for a week). The coaching quality varies — some bring staff from the parent club's academy system, others use local coaches under the brand license. Ask who's actually coaching before you commit to the premium price.
Free and Low-Cost Options
Not every family can afford $300-$500 for a week of summer soccer. Here are more accessible options:
City of San Diego Parks & Recreation
The City of San Diego offers youth soccer through its recreation centers. Programs are significantly cheaper than private club camps, and some locations offer free clinics.
- Registration: SDRecConnect.com or call 619-525-8286
- Free clinics: Some recreation centers offer free Tuesday and Thursday evening soccer clinics — call your nearest center for availability
YMCA of San Diego County
The YMCA runs coed youth soccer leagues and programs throughout the year, including summer options.
- Ages: 3-17 (depending on program)
- Financial assistance: The YMCA offers financial assistance for families who qualify
- Info: ymcasd.org/programs/sports-and-fitness/sports/soccer
San Diego's Free Street Soccer Park
San Diego's first free street soccer park opened in March 2026 — a public facility for pickup soccer. While not a structured camp, it's a free option for summer soccer that emphasizes exactly the kind of unstructured play that develops creative players.
Day Camps vs. Residential Camps
Most San Diego-area soccer camps are day camps. Here's how to think about the two formats:
Day Camps
- Ages: All ages, starting as young as 3-4
- Duration: Typically half-day (3 hours) or full-day (5-6 hours)
- Cost: $150-$525 per week
- Best for: Younger players, first-time campers, families who want their kids home at night
Residential Camps
- Ages: Usually 10+ or 12+
- Duration: 4-7 days with overnight stays
- Cost: $500-$1,500+ per week
- Best for: Older players wanting an immersive experience, players exploring college soccer interest
Residential soccer camps in the San Diego area are less common — most residential options are run by universities or national organizations and may be held outside the immediate area. Check Nike Soccer Camps and IMG Academy for residential options in Southern California.
What to Look for in a Good Soccer Camp
Not all camps are created equal. Here's what separates a development-focused camp from a week of standing in lines:
High Ball Contact Time
The best camps maximize the amount of time each player has a ball at their feet. If your child spends most of the day waiting in line for a drill, that's a poor camp. Look for small group sizes (8-10 players per coach) and activities where every player has a ball.
Age-Appropriate Activities
U6 players should be playing games, not running passing patterns. U14 players should be working on tactical concepts, not doing the same dribbling drill as the 7-year-olds. Good camps differentiate their programming by age group.
Qualified Coaches
Ask about coaching credentials. USSF-licensed coaches (D License minimum, C License preferred) have training in age-appropriate methodology. College players home for the summer can be great assistant coaches but shouldn't be running sessions alone.
Player-to-Coach Ratio
Anything above 12:1 for younger players (U10 and under) means your child isn't getting meaningful coaching. For older players, 15:1 is acceptable but not ideal.
Fun as a Priority
If your child comes home from camp excited to play more soccer, the camp worked. If they come home tired and dreading the next day, something is off. Development at the youth level happens through enjoyment, not through grinding.
What to Skip
- "Elite" camps for U8 players. There is no elite development at age 7. There is only fun and fundamentals.
- Camps that promise college exposure for players under U14. No college coach is scouting 11-year-olds.
- Camps where the brand name is the only selling point. A Barcelona logo on the website doesn't mean Barcelona-quality coaching.
Solstice FC's Approach to Summer Programming
Solstice FC is still in the design phase, so we don't have summer 2026 camps to list. But our approach to summer programming follows the same principles in our player development spec:
- Age-appropriate activity. Below U13, all programming is developmental and non-competitive. Summer should be fun-first.
- Accessibility. Summer programming should be available to all families, not just those who can afford $500 camp weeks. When we launch programming, sliding-scale pricing and free options will be part of the design.
- Unstructured play. The best summer soccer development for young players is pickup games with friends. We'd rather help create spaces for unstructured play than sell another week of organized drills.
